     Shadows Rising is aimed at being a PHP/SQL coded Game Engine for RPG style games. We say Game Engine (misnomer though it may be) since the Engine, or Base, is separate from all actual game content. Game content will be added to the engine through the use of modules. So why modules? Basically most PHP based games of the RPG genre are restricted to a singular game, usually since the game and base are indistinguishable. Shadows Rising will be an attempt to segregate the two parts - with the aim of allowing the engine to support a number of modules, each with distinct game content, for more varied games. So what about game content? Actual content, for example the list of weapons available during gameplay, will be stored on the database. My initial thoughts are that each module will be capable of installing a set of additional database tables - likely prefixed by a unique term. All these tables would contain basic lists, of say weapons, armour, races, quests, locations (though these could likely be randomly generated), NPC Groups, enemies, etc. Each module would could come packaged with its own theme, or the Administrator could use an alternative theme attached to Q-Lib. Each module would comprise custom game content, and multiple modules could be installed to offer a number of games, all running from the same Game Engine. Perhaps one area to consider is insuring the Game Engine can be configured to alter game speed, difficulty, and a myriad of other options to tweak even identical modules to play differently - even further widening gameplay. Overall a user should be able to install, say two modules, one a traditional fantasy based module, the other a sci-fi styled module, and run each off the same base files of the engine.
