     Kismet features as a wireless network detector by parsing packets and detecting standard named networks. This is a 802.11 layer2 wireless network detector and it also acts as sniffer and intrusion detector. This system can be utilized with wireless cards which are supporting monitoring (rfmon) mode. It detects hidden networks and deduces the availability of nonbeaconing networks through data traffic.
